Simon Smith is a PhD researcher in population-based structural health monitoring for offshore wind farms. He received his 1st Class (honours) Meng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2014, and went on to lead a data science and modelling consultancy team in the conventional power sector, whilst also gaining Chartered Engineer status. His passion lies in decarbonisation, and through his research aims to improve wind farm fault diagnostic capabilities, to support in lowering the levelised cost of energy and speed up the energy transition
